In 2005 almost one hundren milions worldwide were homeless!

Some people actually try to do something about the problems in the world: Social entrepreneurs! They try to find creative and innovative solutions for some of the most complicated problems of the society. Here we presente two extraordinary examples of social entrepreneurship.
Waste Land is a 2010 documentary directed by Lucy Walker, João Jardim and Karen Harley. The film documents two years of work of Brazilian contemporary modern artist Vik Muniz in creating art with the cooperation of scavengers of recyclables working at Jardim Gramacho, one of the world's largest landfills, serving the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro inBrazil.
Together with people employed to pick out recyclable material from garbage, Muniz creates from actual landfill trash large-scale mosaic portraits that are sold at art auctions in London and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo.
The film portrays the lives of the garbage pickers and their working conditions as well as Muniz's efforts to help them to gain recognition and better living conditions.
The Homeless World Cup uses the power of football to energise
homeless people so they can change their own lives.
It supports grass-roots football programmes and social enterprise development via a network of 73 national partners and celebrates its work by organising an annual football tournament that unites teams of homeless people from countries all around the globe.
Today, the main role of the organisation is to coordinate the work of its 73 national partners by providing support and guidance in football and management skills, to help grow and develop sustainable programmes which have a positive impact on the lives of homeless and excluded people all around the world.

These innovative projects encourage people in need to participate in a social activities such as training for a football championship or create art in order to gain benefits for them.
But the main aim of this projects is not only to gain econimic benefits in order to improve their living conditions, but also to help them to gain recognition, social integrations, self esteem improvement, as well raising global social awareness.
